RED DEER ROYALS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The Red Deer Royals Alumni Association was incorporated under the Alberta Societies Act on April 10, 2010, with the objective of the Society being:
- Establish avenues for news and communication for past members of the Red Deer Royals Marching & Show Band
- Provide on‐going moral support to the Red Deer Royals Marching & Show Band
- To raise funds to assist the Red Deer Royals Marching & Show Band in meeting their objectives
The Society became a registered charity for tax purposes effective July 1, 2011.
The Alumni Board consists of previous Band members and parents who were very involved with the Red Deer Royals and the Board in previous years. This group recognizes the positive impact this experience had on our children’s lives and want to ensure that it carries on. We were involved with discussions with the Westerner board and management at the time when it became evident that the Westerner could not meet the requirements of the Band as well their objectives in enhancing the Westerner to an elite agricultural venue.
The main fundraising goal for the Society since inception has been to raise funds sufficient to secure an appropriate and permanent practice facility for the band.
Our fundraising projects have included an annual golf tournament, an evening with Rick Mercer and a “Mac’N Cheese” luncheon with the feature presentation by Richard Picciotto, the highest ranking firefighter to survive the World Trade Center disaster in 2001.
The Kinsmen Club of Red Deer has pledged $500,000 to the Red Deer Royals Alumni for this project.
You will also note that administrative costs are kept to a minimum and that all proceeds stay with the charity.
